Birdwatching- Who gives a flock? We Do!!!

Raise an eyebrow if you like, birdwatching (aka Ornithology) is serious business. You often hear about the birds more than those who study them. Sure- most people like to write a book, post their findings in a PDF or boasting with others about some rare species that migrate through Toledo, Ohio. We on the other hand wish to bring a face to the fans of Oregon bird watching. That’s just who we are.

Archibald Gallagher

I’ve been an avid birder for years with my formal training through the Oregon State University. For many reasons, the joy of birdwatching has also been a great way for me to get closer to nature. With so many excellent trails spread throughout Oregon, not to forget various organizations- the idea behind our site: Oregon Birds was thus born.

Helen Beswick

I simply love watching and photographing birds in the wild. I met Archi years earlier while on the annual Christmas count and became great friends since then. While I’m not a great writer, I’ve put a lot of effort into the stories you find within these webpages. If you enjoy the birdwatching like we do, I hope that you enjoy the pleasant extras we’ve added.

Not every birder is the shut-in detached type that you imagine. I like metal music festivals and extreme sport hiking too. For some reason I can chill with that peaceful feeling you get from the forests and trails. I’m also pretty good at spotting lots of rare species since my Dad was a huge bird watcher and taught me to spot lots of local and migrating birds, and you can see that in my writing as well.

Angela Morris

Are you looking for all the best birding clubs and groups? I’ve put my internet skills into overdrive to find the top lists throughout Oregon. I also write about the lesser known groups that help charities through seasonal events and promotions. A lot of these groups involve young teens and is actually a great way for people to get out there and meet.

Do you have an idea that you want to share? Perhaps a new category that we haven’t covered… Then- we want to hear what you think. Write us here:
